Merciful God and Father, we confess that we have taken your holy name in vain. We have often sworn falsely and thoughtlessly. We have not set apart your name as holy as we should. Even more, we have often defamed your name with our lives, our words, and our deeds. We have also not kept your Sabbath holy. We have not heard your Word with earnestness, nor have we done what it says. We have not surrendered ourselves entirely to your holy hands. But you are rich in mercy. Please forgive us, for Jesus' sake, and grant us life in his name. Amen.
